Daniel, a Swiss man with Brazilian roots, navigates the Amazon aboard his 33-ton sailing vessel, the Arani. He dreams of adventure, of myths—and of a project to bring hope to the Ribeirinhos, the people living along the river. But what begins as an expedition quickly transforms into a nightmare.

After being ambushed by illegal gold miners—the brutal Garimpeiros—Daniel is abducted deep into the jungle. Narrowly escaping death, he wanders half-starved through the green hell for days until a young indigenous man finds and saves him. But the Garimpeiros will not rest: Daniel knows too much, and the hunt for him has only just begun.
