Daniel, a Swiss man with Brazilian roots, navigates the Amazon aboard his 33-ton sailing vessel, the Arani. He dreams of adventure, of myths—and of a project to bring hope to the Ribeirinhos, the people living along the river. But what begins as an expedition quickly transforms intoa nightmare.

After being ambushed by illegal gold miners—the brutal Garimpeiros—Daniel is abducted deep into the jungle. Narrowly escaping death, he wanders half-starved through the green hell for days until a young indigenous man finds and saves him. But the Garimpeiros will not rest: Daniel knows too much, and the hunt for him has only just begun.
