Pride in Paradise

Discover Brazil Queerly – Culture, Beaches & Community Vibes

Bahia Explorer LGBT+

Edition – 18 Days of Culture, Nature & Community Highlights

 Travel period: Available year-round
Duration: 18 days / 17 nights
Languages: German or English
Group size: From 2 people (private tour)
Accommodation: Boutique hotels, pousadas & lodges – all proven LGBT+-friendly or popular within the community
Price per person: On request (depending on season & category)

Day 1 – Welcome to the “Pearl of Bahia”

Upon arrival at Salvador Airport, your German- or English-speaking guide greets you with a warm smile – and your first “Axé,” as positive energy is called here. A private transfer takes you to your stylish boutique hotel in the charming Barra neighborhood, just steps from the sea.

In the evening, immerse yourself in the city’s atmosphere: the historic Carmo quarter, a picturesque extension of UNESCO-listed Pelourinho, entices with cobblestone alleys, pastel-colored colonial houses, and cozy restaurants. With a welcome drink overlooking the “Baía de Todos os Santos” and gentle Brazilian rhythms, you’ll feel your daily stress melt away. Your first dinner will be at a popular LGBT+ community spot – an invitation to immediately become part of the scene.

Day 2 – Colors, Rhythms & Sunset in Barra

Today you will discover Salvador in all its facets. On a guided tour, stroll through the colorful Pelourinho, admire the baroque churches, and listen to the sounds of street musicians. At the Mercado Modelo, explore handicrafts, spices, and vibrant souvenirs – perfect to take home.

At lunchtime, stop at an LGBT+-friendly bistro before spending the afternoon at Praia do Porto da Barra, where the queer community meets to sunbathe, swim, and socialize. With a cocktail in a well-known gay and lesbian bar, watch the sunset paint the sky in shades of pink and orange.

The evening continues in the nightlife district of Rio Vermelho – at “Bar de Pri,” with drag shows, music, and a joyful atmosphere. For those who wish, the night carries on at the “San Sebastian Club,” dancing until dawn.

Day 3 – Island Bliss on Morro de São Paulo

After breakfast, a transfer takes you to the ferry terminal. Crossing the Bay of Todos os Santos to Itaparica, you’ll drive through picturesque villages and stop at a legendary restaurant to taste the Bahian specialty Moqueca de Siri. Then, a boat ride brings you to car-free Morro de São Paulo – a postcard paradise of white sandy beaches, palm trees, and bohemian flair.

Your centrally located, gay-friendly pousada is just steps from the sea. In the evening, enjoy a magical sunset at the historic fortress, complete with cocktails and live DJ beats.

Day 4 – Beach Hopping & Adventure on Morro de São Paulo

Today you’ll explore the famous beaches “Praias 1–4” on foot. While the first two are lively and lined with beach bars, Praia 3 and 4 offer peaceful retreats under palm trees. Thrill-seekers can try ziplining into the sea or snorkeling at colorful coral reefs. The evening is dedicated to the community hotspots along the beach promenade – barefoot barhopping included.

Day 5 – Island Adventure with Natural Pools & Oyster Bar

By speedboat, glide through a maze of mangroves and islets to the crescent-shaped bay of Garapuá, lined with more than 10,000 coconut palms. Swim in turquoise natural pools, sip drinks at a floating raft bar, and taste freshly harvested oysters at a floating restaurant. On the way back, visit a historic monastery before spending a free evening on Morro de São Paulo.

Day 6 – Arrival in Paradise: Boipeba Island

A speedboat (weather permitting) takes you to Boipeba, the quieter sister island – a refuge for those who love nature, tranquility, and romance. After checking into your charming, LGBT+-friendly pousada, explore the lively little village with its colorful houses, cozy bars, and Bahian-style restaurants. The evening ends relaxed with a caipirinha under the stars.

Day 7–8 – Boipeba at Your Own Pace

Two days full of possibilities: take long beach walks, ride horses along the water, snorkel in the warm Atlantic, or simply relax in a hammock with the sound of the sea. A highlight awaits you on the second evening: a lobster dinner directly on the beach, as waves gently lap the shore and torches bathe the coast in golden light.

Day 9 – To the Maraú Peninsula & Barra Grande

By speedboat and car, you’ll reach colorful Barra Grande – a paradise nestled between the Atlantic and mangroves. Your accommodation is near the famous natural pools of Taipu de Fora, perfect for snorkeling at low tide. In the evening, watch the sunset at Ponta do Mutá, a favorite meeting point for locals and travelers alike.

Day 10 – Boat Trip with Music & Waterfall

Today you’ll explore the Baía de Camamu on a traditional motor-schooner, enjoying an onboard bar, Brazilian music, and the refreshing sea breeze. Along the way, you’ll stop at scenic islands and the Tremembé freshwater waterfall, where crystal-clear water from the Atlantic rainforest meets the saltwater of the bay. Enjoy a relaxed lunch at a charming local spot before returning to Barra Grande.

Day 11 – Quad Tour in the Off-Road Paradise

The Maraú Peninsula is a dream for adventurers: no paved roads, just sand and gravel tracks. Today you’ll explore it by quad bike – either on your own or with a guide. Discover hidden beaches, swim in the Lagoa Azul, enjoy a village lunch prepared by a local host, and marvel at giant bromeliads.

Day 12 – Surfer Vibes in Itacaré

Just 55 km away lies your next destination: Itacaré, once a fishing village, now a hotspot for surfers and world travelers. Surrounded by Atlantic rainforest and hidden bays, you’ll check into an LGBT+-friendly lodge with a tropical garden and pool. In the evening, a queer beach bar with a live DJ awaits.

Day 13–14 – Action & Cuisine in Itacaré

Adventure and Relaxation in Itacaré: Whether it’s stand-up paddling, rafting, surfing, ziplining, or tandem paragliding, there’s something for everyone. A highlight: rafting on the Rio de Contas followed by a traditional pitu (crayfish) lunch. For those who prefer to take it easy, simply relax on the beach and soak up the tropical sun – Itacaré is a true haven for unwinding. Optionally, you can also visit a cacao plantation. In the evenings, street food tours lead you to the most popular LGBT+ hotspots.

Day 15 – From the Coast to the Heart of Bahia

Today you’ll head inland to Lençóis – the gateway to Chapada Diamantina National Park. The journey showcases Bahia’s diversity: from the Atlantic coast through lush rainforest to the drier Sertão, where giant cacti and endless horizons dominate. In the evening, check into a stylish hotel and enjoy dinner in colonial surroundings.

Day 16 – Natural Wonders of Chapada Diamantina

A day of breathtaking contrasts: Explore the Poço do Diabo waterfall with a refreshing swim, wander through the spectacular stalactites of Lapa Doce cave, and relax in the crystal-clear Pratinha Lagoon. The day culminates at Pai Inácio Hill, where you’ll witness a stunning sunset over the Chapada Diamantina landscape – a perfect finale to an unforgettable adventure.

Day 17 – Mini-Pantanal & Quilombola Culture

In the morning, visit the Quilombola community of Remanso, with roots tracing back to Africa. Glide in canoes steered by locals through the Marimbus wetlands – a “mini-Pantanal” teeming with birds, monkeys, capybaras, and, with luck, even anacondas.

After a short hike, you’ll arrive at a traditional home where local specialties are cooked over a wood fire. Energized, you’ll continue to the Roncador natural pools – perfect for a refreshing swim before returning to Lençóis.

Day 18 – Farewell to Bahia
